Over the years, several studies have been developed seeking evidence-based treatments for depression, as a means to facilitate the response to treatment response and in the prevention of relapse. Rationale: For the clinician it is very often challenging to update, mainly due to the amount available of information, and also because despite clinical trials showing positive results, they might not be interpreted alone as an evidence. Objective: This article presents a narrative review about the evidences and applicability of different cognitive behavioral techniques in the treatment of mood disorders, i.e. the traditional Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Activation, Mindfulness and Online Therapy. Argument: all the techniques show their efficacy to the treatment of depression, however, they differ in what would be the best phase of treatment most suitable for its applicability (i.e., phase of the disorder). Conclusion: Although these psychotherapeutic techniques are adequate for the treatment of depression, the evidence contributes to confirm their methodology and to clarify which phases are most appropriate to apply each of them.
